TEOCO to buy Aircom International

TEOCO has announced their intention to buy mobile network planning solution vendor Aircom International for an undisclosed sum.

Aircom is one of the old-school of OSS, founded as many were in the mid-1990s. They went on to be a big player in the niche of mobile RAN planning and optimization, being ranked #1 by Analysy Mason in 2012.

Things have been changing recently, with the move to converged IP back-haul and the increase in small cell and Wi-Fi traffic off-loading requiring different OSS solutions. As a result, Aircom recently launched I-View Dimension to broaden the scope of their planning capabilities to include end-to-end connectivity between cell sites and the core.

It is likely that with the ramp up of LTE, small cell and Wi-Fi in many vendors networks, and the extra capabilities offered by Aircom’s product suite, that they now make an attractive acquisition target.
