Oracle Benchmarks Broadband Order Delivery

Oracle benchmarks its Communications solutions running faaaast on own-brand Oracle server platforms.

Oh I do like a good benchmark, but you see them so rarely in OSS/BSS.

This week Oracle has announced it has been benchmarking the capabilities of its Exadata and Exalogic server platforms to run its Communications software. Using Oracle Communications Rapid Offer Design and Order Delivery solution the benchmark demonstrated multi-play broadband order processing at more than27,000 orders an hour, with a 36 second average end-user order life-cycle time.

These figures come from running their solution on Oracle’s Exadata Database Machine (an enterprise class server tuned for database tasks) and Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud (a middle-ware server plus other bits to allow it to offer ‘on-premises’ Cloud compute capabilities).

Bhaskar Gorti, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Communications added:

The performance test of Oracle Communications Rapid Offer Design and Order Delivery solution running on Oracle Exadata Database Machine and Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud demonstrates the power of our integrated hardware and software solutions to scale to meet communications service providers’ ever-increasing demands for better performance with simplified IT footprints.

Oracle have published all the details of the benchmark for download here in PDF.
