Subex was forced to issue an announcement yesterday clarifying their position and quashing rumors about a possible buyout. The India Times had reported rumors (although it’s unclear if they were the original publishers) that the global IT companies PCCW and WeDo are considering a buy-out of Subex.
Said the India Times business news site:
According to multiple sources in the know, the Hong Kong-based telecom-media-IT solutions conglomerate PCCW and Portugal’s WeDo Technologies have approached Subex for an acquisition. The discussions, however, are still at an early stage, said one of the sources mentioned above. Subex has not yet started an official sell-off process or signed any agreement with a potential suitor for exclusive negotiations.
Business Standard later reported Subex’s position:
Subex issued a clarification with regard to news item titled “Global Tech Cos PCCW, WeDo Eye Subex”, that the news items are baseless and unfounded rumors which the company denies vehemently and that such negotiations/talks with the said “PCCW” or “WeDo” were never taking place.
While very much active in the wider world of telco software, Subex has had much less to do in OSS since Netcracker bought their activation capabilities.
