Telco Systems Releases new SDN Network Operating Systems with OpenFlow Support

The telecom industry is finding it challenging to keep up with rapid advancements in technology and increasing demands from consumers for greater bandwidth at lower costs. Making the existing network smarter and more efficient offers more promising benefits than investing in the expansion of existing network infrastructure. Telco Systems offers a solution…

SDN and NFV technologies can help telecom service providers transform their existing infrastructure to become more IT aware and offer more value added services beyond being just connectivity providers. These technologies can also reduce service delivery costs and simplify network management activities.

Telco Systems, a leading provider of multi-service CE 2.0 and MPLS edge solutions for mobile backhaul, business Ethernet and cloud networking services, has recently announced a strategy focused for developing SDN and NFV technologies. The company plans to focus on its Open Metro Edge (OME) solutions, which supports network evolution from Carrier Ethernet 2.0 to SDN and NFV architectures.

As part of this new strategy, Telco Systems has released its new ViNOX network operating system. ViNOX is the first network operating system with native support for OpenFlow – the emerging protocol that enables SDN for making the network components more intelligent and IT aware. ViNOX can power all of a service provider’s OME devices and can be added via a simple software upgrade onto the existing network devices from Telco Systems. Service providers can leverage ViNOX’s complete SDN support for better automation of network processes and realize greater flexibility, faster deployment of new services and more efficient network management on their current infrastructure.

Telco Systems’ ViNOX lets service providers transition to more intelligent networks with controlled risk affecting existing operations.

According to Ariel Efrati, CEO of Telco Systems, ““The advantages of dispersing intelligence via SDN across telecommunications networks are astounding and there is great enthusiasm for delivery of actual SDN capabilities according to the emerging OpenFlow standard. ViNOX enables our customers to embark on a safe path to intelligent networks without risk to current practices and operations. By using OpenFlow at the network edge, service providers can enhance their service offering and differentiate between traffic flows with substantially higher granularity than ever before.”

Telco Systems already offers a range of SDN and NFV solutions as part of the company’s new strategy, including CloudMetro distributed NFV products, TelcoApps virtualization tools and TelcoController SDN orchestration product. The TelcoController SDN orchestration product can cut OPEX by 80%, provision services in a fast and automated manner and offer on-demand dynamic bandwidth allocation support.
