Cisco Acquiring Embrane – Expanding SDN Offering

SDN Central reports that Cisco intends to acquire Embrane – one of the earlier software-defined networking (SDN) start-ups to emerge. This follows Cisco’s earlier $14 million investment in the company last year.

The deal is expected to close this quarter, according to the Cisco announcements. Financial terms were not disclosed, but this sector is pretty hot right now – Expect 6, 9, or even 12 times multipliers on revenues.

Embrane will likely be joining the Insieme Business Unit as part of Cisco’s SDN offering.
